This intensive one-week programme is designed for teachers, educators, and school staff seeking effective solutions to bullying and social exclusion. Key topics include:

  • Understanding Bullying: Identifying different forms (physical, verbal, social, cyberbullying), its warning signs, and its impact on victims, perpetrators, and bystanders.
  • Promoting Well-being: Strategies to build a positive school climate, enhance student self-esteem, and support mental health.
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Techniques to develop core SEL competencies in students, such as self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution.
  • Inclusive Practices: Methods for creating a classroom where all students feel valued, respected, and have a sense of belonging.
  • Prevention & Intervention: Moving beyond reactive measures to implement proactive, evidence-based prevention strategies and restorative practices for intervention.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the various forms of bullying, including cyberbullying, and their warning signs.
  • Understand the fundamental principles of creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive school environment.
  • Apply practical strategies to promote positive mental health and well-being among students.
  • Design and implement classroom activities that foster social-emotional learning (SEL), empathy, and respect.
  • Develop a school-wide action plan for bullying prevention that includes proactive measures and clear intervention protocols.
  • Utilise restorative approaches to manage conflicts and address bullying incidents effectively.
  • Engage with digital resources to promote online safety and combat cyberbullying.
  • Share best practices and collaborate with European colleagues on inclusion and anti-bullying initiatives.

Methodology & Assessment

The course methodology is highly interactive, collaborative, and practical, ensuring participants can apply new skills in their own contexts. A 25-hour week allows for deep immersion.

Methodology: Learning is facilitated through a blend of expert-led workshops, collaborative group work, dynamic discussions, and practical simulations. Participants will analyze real-world case studies, engage in role-playing exercises to practice conflict resolution and intervention, and participate in peer-to-peer sharing of best practices from different European countries. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning and reflective practice.

Assessment: Assessment is formative and portfolio-based, focusing on practical application. Participants will be evaluated through:

  • Active participation in discussions and workshops.
  • A collaborative project, such as designing a school-wide anti-bullying campaign.
  • The development of a personal “Action Plan” outlining how they will implement these strategies in their school.

Participants will receive a comprehensive set of resources. This includes:

  • Digital course booklet with key theories, research, and activity guides.
  • Presentations, case studies, and video resources.
  • A curated list of digital tools, apps, and platforms for promoting online safety (e.g., eSafety Commissioner, StopBullying.gov).
  • Access to a shared online platform for collaboration and resource sharing.
