Day 1: Foundations of Positive School-Family Relationships (4 hours)

Module 1: Why Partnerships Matter: Exploring the benefits of school-family collaboration for students, educators, and families.

Module 2: Understanding Diverse Families: Examining diverse family structures, cultural backgrounds, and communication styles.

Module 3: Barriers to Effective Partnerships: Identifying common challenges and strategies to overcome them.

Day 2: The Art of Communication (4 hours)

Module 4: Active Listening for Understanding: Developing skills to hear and understand parents’ perspectives.

Module 5: Empathic Communication: Building trust and connection by validating feelings and emotions.

Module 6: Beyond Words: Exploring nonverbal communication and its impact on building relationships.

Day 3: Navigating Challenges & Cultural Sensitivity (4 hours)

Module 7: Conflict Resolution for Positive Outcomes: Learning strategies to address disagreements constructively.

Module 8: Cultural Humility and Inclusive Partnerships: Developing sensitivity, awareness, and strategies to work with diverse families.

Module 9: Supporting Families facing Difficulties: Exploring resources and approaches for empowering families in crisis.

Day 4: Fostering Parent Involvement (4 hours)

Module 10: Meaningful Engagement: Designing opportunities for parents to contribute in ways that are relevant and valuable.

Module 11: Two-way Communication: Creating open channels for feedback and dialogue between school and home.

Module 12: Empowering Parents as Partners: Building parent leadership and advocacy skills.

Day 5: Creating a Culture of Collaboration (4 hours)

Module 13: Building a Supportive Community: Strategies for developing a network of parents, school staff, and community members.

Module 14: Sustainability & Systems: Creating school-wide systems to sustain positive school-family partnerships.

Module 15: Action Planning and Reflection.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
