Discover the power of music as a universal language for collaboration. “Group Harmonies” is an innovative Erasmus+ workshop designed for educators, leaders, and professionals. It uses the dynamics of ensemble playing to explore essential teamwork and leadership skills in a creative, non-virtual setting. No musical expertise required—just a willingness to listen, adapt, and co-create!
Description
This 5-day (20-hour) practical workshop uses rhythm, voice, and simple instruments as metaphors for organizational dynamics. Participants engage in hands-on musical exercises to analyze group interaction, communication patterns, and leadership emergence. We explore how harmony, active listening, and synchronization in music translate directly to effective collaboration, agile management, and a positive team climate in any professional or educational environment.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Analyze group dynamics using musical ensemble models.
- Enhance active listening and non-verbal communication skills.
- Identify and practice different leadership styles (e.g., conducting vs. facilitating improvisation).
- Develop strategies for building consensus and managing creative conflict.
- Apply musical collaboration techniques to improve professional projects and team cohesion.
Methodology & Assessment
Methodology: This course utilizes an experiential “learning-by-doing” approach. The methodology is centered on practical workshops, guided musical improvisation, rhythm circles, and collaborative creation exercises. Theoretical concepts of teamwork and leadership are introduced briefly, then immediately explored through musical activities. Facilitated group discussions and daily reflective practice sessions will link the musical experiences directly to real-world professional scenarios and educational settings. The environment is safe, inclusive, and prioritizes interaction over performance.
Assessment: Assessment is continuous and formative, not based on musical talent. It includes:
- Active participation in all musical exercises and group activities.
- Constructive contribution to group discussions and reflective analysis.
- A final reflective portfolio/learning journal documenting key insights.
- A final group “performance” (a short, collaboratively created piece).
Materials, Digital Tools & Other Learning Resources
All necessary musical instruments (a variety of percussion, simple melodic instruments) and course materials (handouts, theoretical models) will be provided by the organizers. The focus is on non-digital, face-to-face interaction. A shared digital folder will be used for supplemental resource sharing.
